The Maharashtra government unveiled its e-police complaint system at the 13th national conference at Jaipur on Friday.

With the launch of this e-gov initative the residents of Maharashtra will be able to register a police complaint online and also get a receipt on their mobile phone.

“The person will not have to go to a police station anymore,” said Ajay Bhusan Pandey, the official representing the government of Maharashtra.

A complaint can be lodged at the state government website www.maharashtra.gov.in.

The complainant can register on the site by filling the name, mobile number, email ID and the complaint. The information would be sent to police department concerned and the person would immediately receive a SMS with a unique code number to authenticate registration.

“The complainant should verify the information filed by him with the help of the number,” said Pandey.

After the code is entered on the website, the complaint is filed and a numeric id of the complaint is generated. The application then messages this numeric id to the complainant almost immediately. All future references to the complaint and its redressal are made on the basis of this id.
