More than 200 vacancies in the Tamil Nadu's lower courts
Chennai: Two advocates' associations have stressed the need for filling up about 200 posts lying vacant in the subordinate judiciary in Tamil Nadu for quick disposal of cases.
Tamil Nadu Advocates' Association President S Prabhakaran has attributed the unfilled vacancies as a reason for the 'slow pace' in disposal of cases in the lower judiciary in the state.
'It is a matter of serious concern to the Bench, Bar as well as to litigant public,' he said in a press release here.
The association said it came to know that between 200 and 300 vacancies existed in the lower judiciary.
In a separate press note, Labour Law Practitioners' Association president N G R Prasad claimed that three Labour Courts in Chennai and one each at Tiruchirappalli and Salem were without Presiding Officers.
The post of Presiding Officer of an Additional Labour Court here was vacant for over an year-and-a-half, while in Salem and Tiruchirappalli the posts were lying vacant for over eight months, he claimed and said that there were nearly 200 vacancies in lower courts in the state.
