The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking disqualification of Congress president Sonia Gandhi as a Lok Sabha member for accepting a title conferred by the Belgium government on her.

A bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul also imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on the petitioner, P Rajan, who had filed a similar petition earlier too.

Rajan had sought directions to the Election Commission to hold an inquiry against Gandhi, who was conferred the 'Order of Leopold', the second highest civilian award of Belgium, and an honorary doctorate in November, 2006.

The High Court had on December 16 dismissed a similar petition filed by Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy.
