Budget session likely from March 12
Budget may be presented on March 16
GN Delhi Bureau | January 30 2012
Parliament's budget session that normally begins in the last week of February, is tentatively fixed to start from March 12, Monday. It will start with the President's address to the joint session which is customary at the start of the session in a new calendar year.
The Union Budget is slated on Friday, March 16, while presentation of the Railway Budget and Economic Survey will take place on March 14 and 15 respectively.
The session had to be delayed because of the ongoing polls in five states and since the counting takes place only on March 6, there was no scope for calling the session immediately thereafter as March 8, a Thursday, happens to be a holiday for Holi. Hence a decision was taken to convene it the next Monday.
