Hitting back at the Opposition, government on Tuesday accused it of going back on its word and stalling the Question Hour in Parliament over the Commonwealth Games mess.

"It is indeed very unfortunate that despite an agreement yesterday that the House would run today, the Question Hour will be taken up and after that the calling attention motion on Sports Minister Ajay Maken's statement would be taken up, the Opposition has disrupted Parliament," Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal told reporters here.

Bansal said the sudden change in the stand of the BJP raised doubts on part of the genuineness of the Opposition on the need to have a discussion on the Commonwealth Games issue.

"This raises a genuine doubt in the minds of everyone, whether they are genuinely interested in discussion... whether they will allow others to speak or rush to the Well and not allow the ministers to speak," he said.

The opposition and the government, after repeated adjournments yesterday, had agreed for a discussion on Maken's statement.

Maken, in a suo motu statement on the CWG, had put the blame on the BJP-led opposition for appointment of Suresh Kalmadi as CWG Organising Committee chief.

The opposition stepped up attack on Maken with the CAG report stating that Kalmadi was appointed CWG Organising Committee chief based on a PMO recommendation in 2004, when the UPA was in power.

Maken had said that Kalmadi was elected to the post by the Indian Olympic Association as per the Host City Contract approved by the NDA regime and "there was no scope for any change".
