Taking a dig at the BJP's poll slogan 'Khanduri hai zaroori' (Khanduri is essential), Congress leader Harish Rawal on wednesday said Chief Minister B C Khanduri is instead BJP's "Majboori" (compulsion) in the upcoming Assembly polls in Uttarakhand.

"Khanduri is not Jaruri, but has become Majboori (compulsion) of BJP," Rawat said, addressing a poll rally at Bhabar area near here.

Attacking the party, he asked, "Why Khanduri was not necessary for BJP when he was removed from chief minister ship earlier?"

He said, just before the elections, Khanduri became necessary and was brought back as the people of Uttarakhand has been suffering from the corruption and inefficiency of the BJP government.

"BJP has been exposed in the state for its corrupt behavior. Just for face saving and to fool people, Khanduri was brought back. If Khanduri was that necessary for the party then why he was removed in first place?" he asked.

For the Congress, he said, not a person but the development is necessary.

Campaigning for Congress candidate from Kotdwara Assembly seat Surendra Singh Negi, Rawat, who was accompanied by Union minister Sachin Pilot, appealed to people to vote for party for corruption free governance.

Addressing the rally, Pilot slammed the state government for not using the central funds for the development work in the region.

He said that to hide its inefficiency and neglect, the BJP government is accusing the Centre.
