Hike in monthly conveyance allowance for differently abled

Allowance Rs 1,000 per month for those employed in government and local bodies

Tamil Nadu Government today announced hike in monthly conveyance allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 for differently-abled persons employed in government and local bodies.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi issued an order in this regard, an official press release said.
The hike would be effective from October 1. Government would incur an additional expenditure of rs 8.40 crore per annum on account of this.
In all, 10,000 differently-abled people working in Government, local bodies, teachers, non-teaching staff and those employed in government-aided educational institutions would be benefitted by the increase.
The conveynance had been hiked from Rs 150 to Rs 300 in June 2006 and now it has been further enhanced to Rs 1,000 per month with effect from October 1, the release added.
