PTI | August 02 2011

A case was registered on Tuesday against BSP councillor Hans Raj Rana for the alleged murder of a 37-year-old man, police said.

Rana was booked in connection with the murder of Sonu, who was killed yesterday evening, deputy commissioner of Police Yurinder Singh said.

The case was lodged after the victim's mother Neeta alleged that her son was electrocuted, Singh added.

In April, another councillor Ram Simran Singh Makkad, nephew of Akali Dal MLA Sarabjeet Singh Makkad and his three accomplices had allegedly gunned down a local hotelier.
