Aarushi case: SC refuses to hear mother's plea

Nupur Talwar seeks stay on the non-bailable warrant issued against her
PTI | New Delhi | April 12 2012

Nupur Talwar, facing arrest in the twin murder case of her daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking stay on the non- bailable warrant (NBW) issued against her by the trial court.

A bench of justices A K Patnaik and Swatanter Kumar, however, refused to hear her plea on Thursday and said that it would be taken up on Friday.

Nupur is facing arrest as the CBI is looking for her and conducted raids on Wednesday pursuant to the NBW issued against her by a Ghaziabad court.

Pleading for an urgent hearing, the dentist' counsel submitted that she is not a fugitive.

"She is not a fugitive and running away from justice," senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for her, submitted, while seeking urgent hearing of the case.

The bench, however, said the matter is not listed today and it would hear the case tomorrow.

"We will see it on Friday," the bench said.
