Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and STAR Network India CEO Uday Shankar at the Bihar: Banking on Inclusion conference

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday took potshots at prime minister Manmohan Singh and the coalition he is leading, saying that people had lost faith in them.

“People have lost faith in the authority of PM,” Kumar said. He was addressing a conference on ‘Bihar: Banking on Inclusion’ organised by Governance Now in Patna.

Kumar said the UPA government was suffering from the “macro-management problem”. On the lack of consensus among the ruling allies on any public policy, he said the problem lies at the door of the ruling party. There was no unity in the ruling congress, he said.

“The problem is also due to the lack of authority of the prime minister. The power centre is somewhere else,” he said.

He also said that the Congress with 206 seats in the Lok Sabha was behaving as if it had a two-third majority. “The problem is with the mindset,” he said.
