Call for Articles, Innovative Ideas on “Mobile Application for Public Services”  for publication in special issue of Governance Now on mobile governance to be released  during e-GovWorld 2012 scheduled on January 19-20 at New Delhi, India

Dear Stakeholders,

As you are aware, department of information technology, government of India has recently announced the formulation of national policy on mobile governance. The Society for Promotion of e-Governance has been on the forefront of advocating mobile governance for better services to Indian citizens with the first global dialogue held in partnership with e-Development Thematic Group of The World Bank in 2007 chaired by Shri R. Chandrasekhar, secretary IT, government of India. The details of the first dialogue on m-Governance conducted during e-Gov World 2007 are available at the URL http://go.worldbank.org/RLCVF90NB0

With the m-governance policy to be announced soon, our endeavour now is to help leverage the policy initiative of Indian government assist in identification of key applications, ecosystem building and public private partnership models to enable India gain a leading position in mobile based public service delivery. The focus of e-Gov World 2012 will therefore will be on deliberating on the Innovative Mobile applications for Public Services that can help e-governance stakeholders in India leapfrog and create state of art m-governance applications for the citizens.

Governance Now has partnered with e-GovWorld 2012 as “Media and Outreach Partner” and had decided to bring a special issue on mobile applications for public services to be released during the conference.  In this context, we are happy to invite domain experts, researchers, telecom players, IT organizations, civil society organizations and all the stakeholders to submit innovative ideas, applications and solutions for publication in this special issue. The selected authors will also be invited to participate and present during e-Gov World 2012. . The best article, idea/application will be awarded a trophy and cash prize of INR 25,000 as well as opportunity to showcase the applications at mobile applications lounge; a dedicated exhibition hosted in conjunction with e-Gov World 2012.
