Trinamool's Dinesh Trivedi may join BJP, and other political buzz

May fight Lok Sabha polls from Gujarat

GN Bureau | July 8, 2013

Former union railway minister Dinesh Trivedi, who seems to be in a no-man’s land in Trinamool Congress ever since he was seen to have defied Trinamool boss Mamata Banerjee while making last year’s railway budget before flinching to toe the party line, is likely to join the BJP and contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Gujarat, according to information.

A close friend of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, Trivedi traces his roots to Kutch region of the state. Indications are that Trivedi will convey his decision to resign from Trinamool Congress after the monsoon session of parliament.

According to sources, Trivedi is at present discussing his future plans in politics with close friends and also plans to meet Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, though not with a view to join the grand old party. He would like to maintain a cordial relationship with the Gandhi scion, seen by most as the party’s prime ministerial candidate in the next general elections, sources said.

Soon, Modi might just call you!

Gujarat CM and the BJP’s campaign in-charge for the next general elections Narendra Modi is set to speak individually to subscribers of a private mobile operator to increase his personal touch in the run-up to the polls.  According to those in the know, the party has already commissioned a new software for this purpose, and the exercise is likely to start from August.

As per plans, Modi will reportedly call up each subscriber, say “Namaste; Vande Maataram” and seek his/her support to oust the Congress and bring the BJP to power.
