Educational Qualifications: M.Com., LLB., CAIIB Experience: At present: Engaged in consultancy relating to rural and micro finance, legal matters; Worked as Chief Consultant to a NGO engaged in providing free computer education to primary school children and setting up of Village Knowledge Centers and as an Advisor to a Delhi based Consultancy firm on a ADB assignment on Capacity Building for Rural Co-operative Credit Structure in India. Also working as Resource Person to the UN Micro Finance Solution Exchange. Past Experience and Employment record: After serving NABARD from July 1982 to September 2003 and earlier RBI from August 1965 to July 1982 in various capacities, retired as Executive Director, NABARD in September 2003. NABARD is an apex level institution, jointly promoted by the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India in the year 1982, under as Act of Parliament, mainly for promoting sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural prosperity through effective credit support, related services, institutional development, supervision and other innovative initiatives. As ED,NABARD, Over the years, developed expertise and specialization in designing, developing and implementing macro and micro level policies for: Micro-Finance and Alternate Credit Delivery Systems including Grameen Bank model of Bangladesh to improve access of credit to under-served/un-served poor, NGOs and MFIs, Promotion of Farm and Non- Farm Sectors including Agriculture - Crop Loans and Project Finance, Water Shed Management, Agri-business and Commercialization of Agriculture, Kisan (Farmers`) Credit Card Scheme, Marketing and Distribution Credit, , Gender Empowerment, SMEs, Business Management, Internal Inspection, Control and Vigilance, Inspection of Commercial Banks, Rehabilitation and Supervision of State and Central Coop. Banks, Primary Credit Societies and Regional Rural Banks, Credit related policies relating to Co-operative sugar factories, etc.
