IOB to offer online road tax payment facility in TN

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) would soon launch a facility to enable vehicle owners in Tamil Nadu make payment of road tax online, a senior bank official said on Saturday.

The formal nod of the Tamil Nadu Transport department was awaited in this regard, bank General Manager, Central Office Chennai, R P Bharti said.

Addressing members of Chamber of Commerce and business community at a 'Traders Meet', he said IOB had introduced several products making use of the information technology for facile payment and ideal service of the bank to the customers.

The meet was aimed at bringing to notice the highlights of e-payment of the commercial taxes. He said the IOB's total business now stood at Rs 2,71,000 crores which enabled the bank to notch the seventh position.

The bank had also introduced a facility for receiving complaints through SMS which would be immediately taken note of and processed for redressal.

Commissioner of Commercial Taxes M Rajasekar said that the system of 'e-payment of the commercial taxes' was launched recently to save time and energy of the assesses.
