Sanjay Bhoi on starvation deaths in Orissa

GN Bureau | March 30, 2010

Sanjay Bhoi, a Congress MP from Baragarh in Orissa, says that starvation deaths continue in his district and rest of the state as the distribution system in the state for government's welfare schemes has failed. Designated beneficiaries of government schemes like NREGS, BPL etc. don't have any access to these.

Bringing to attention the plight of the KBK region in the state (one of the poorest regions in country),Bhoi says that these are the places where the failure of a distribution system is defeating the intentions behind the scheme. He says a monitoring mechanism for central government schemes is the need of the hour.
