Aarushi case: Nupur to spend second night in Jail

Court reserves order on her bail plea

PTI | May 1, 2012

Nupur Talwar, an accused in the 2008 double murder of her daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, will have to spend a second night in jail after a local court on Tuesday reserved till Wednesday its order on her bail plea.

Additional district judge S Lal reserved the order on the bail application of Nupur, who was sent to jail on Monday, after hearing arguments of her counsel as well as CBI, which opposed any relief to her. Nupur, a dentist, will again be sent to the district (Dasna) jail.

Nupur's lawyer claimed there was no evidence against her and said she had undergone scientific tests like lie detection and polygraphy and that nothing was found against her.

Besides, finger prints found in the crime scene did not match with Nupur and since her husband and co-accused Rajesh Talwar was given bail, she should also be given bail on parity basis as she is a woman, the lawyer submitted.

However, CBI's counsel opposed the bail plea, saying Rajesh was not on regular bail and that his bail was under review. So, there is no question of giving parity, he said.

Nupur was sent to jail after her application for interim bail was rejected on Mondayday.

14-year-old Aarushi and Talwars' domestic help Hemraj were murdered in May 2008 in the couple's flat in Noida.
