BJP plans to move pvt member bill on Telangana in LS
GN Bureau | New Delhi | April 26 2012
The BJP plans to move a private members bill in the Lok Sabha for a separate state Telangana. The move for the bill gained momentum after Lok Sabha suspended Congress MPs as they raised the issue of Telangana.
The process for a private members bill takes atleast three weeks. This means the bill will come only in the Monsoon session.
BJP member Rajiv Pratap Rudy in Rajya Sabha in 2011 introduced a separate state for Telangana and Dr Hamid Ansari, chairman, Rajya Sabha accorded special permission.
But in Lok Sabha it depends whether the Committee on private members bill will take up the matter. Even if they do, listing may take atleast three to six months, says a senior BJP MP.
