Canon to expand footprint in government sector

Launches 4 new multi functional devices (MFD) and 4 new document scanners

Canon India has launched a new range of MFDs of imageRUNNER 1700 series and document scanners to strengthen its stand as the market leader in India in document management space. The imageRUNNER 1700 series which includes imageRUNNER 1730,1730i, 1740i and 1750i models offers high speed A4 black and white printing, scanning and copying to address mid and high-end desktop A4 printing requirements. This series comes with four variants with speed ranging from 30ppm to 50ppm. Also, this comes with an inbuilt universal send feature. The imageRUNNER 1700 series offers high performance printing with speed of between 30 and 50 pages-per-minute and produces first copy in approximately five seconds or less.

The new range of document scanners P-215, DR C-125, DR M-140 and DR M-160 covers all personal, workgroup to department level digitisation needs. These new range of document scanners combines flexibility with compact design and high image quality.

India Inc prints about 15 crore documents annually and is expected to grow at the rate of 15 percent. The government and SME sector are the key growth drivers for this segment, the A4 Copier-based MFDs is ideally suited to meet all the requirements of the Indian SMEs and government segment. With this rapid growth, Canon is focusing on Managed Document Services (MDS) as strategic value proposition to its customers and is expecting 50 percent growth in this domain with revenue achievement of Rs 75 crore in MDS for the year. Canon is poised to maintain its market leadership for 5th consecutive year in the copier-based MFD segment.

Document scanners are integral part of digitisation and are the first step in this process. Document scanner market is expected to grow by approximately 11 percent. BFSI, government and SMEs are key contributors to this growth.

Documents are integral part of every organisation, so printing and scanning are required in every organisation. Verticals like BFSI, telecom, healthcare, logistics and government sectors have plenty of documents and these MFDs/scanners are designed to increase productivity in any organisation.
