Prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the Air India flight crash site in Ahmedabad to assess the situation first-hand. He met officials and emergency response teams working tirelessly in the aftermath of the disaster. He also condoled the loss of numerous lives in the tragic air accident. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the immense pain and loss they are enduring.
In separate posts on X, Modi said: “We are all devastated by the air tragedy in Ahmedabad. The loss of so many lives in such a sudden and heartbreaking manner is beyond words. Condolences to all the bereaved families. We understand their pain and also know that the void left behind will be felt for years to come. Om Shanti.”

Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Modi met those injured in the aftermath, including the lone survivor, and assured them of the nation’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
He also chaired a review meeting at Ahmedabad airport with top authorities to assess the ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

Modi also met the family of former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the plane crash. He highlighted Rupani’s distinguished career, recalling his contributions in various roles, including his tenure in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, as Rajya Sabha MP, Gujarat BJP president, and as a cabinet minister in the state government.
In a thread post on X, Modi wrote: "It is unimaginable that Vijaybhai is not in our midst. I’ve known him for decades. We worked together, shoulder to shoulder, including during some of the most challenging times. Vijaybhai was humble and hardworking, firmly committed to the Party's ideology. Rising up the ranks, he held various responsibilities in the Organisation and went on to serve diligently as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.”
