 An enquiry has been ordered after at least 18 people were killed and dozens were injured when a boiler exploded on Wednesday afternoon in the power generating unit at NTPC Unchahar plant at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh.

The boiler pipe burst in the 500 MW power generating unit that became operational in March. A massive fire broke out after the explosion.
 
According to a PIB release, around 80 people were rushed to NTPC hospital. Most of them were discharged after giving first-aid.  However, NTPC said about 10 persons with serious injuries were referred to nearby hospitals and to Lucknow for treatment.
