Accusing the Centre of taking unilateral decisions on internal security without consulting states, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said this can create a "serious crisis".

"There is lack of confidence between the state and the centre which is not good for internal security. This lack of confidence can create a serious crisis. I have asked the Prime Minister to stop unilateral activities of the Centre," Modi said while alluding to Centre's proposal to set up NCTC and bring amendments in BSF and RPF Act.

Unless such unilateral activities are stopped, "this confidence building seems difficult, he said.

Expressing concern over shortage of arms and ammunitions made available to the states, Modi said he has urged the Prime Minister to make a policy and prepare a scheme for clearing backlog of arms and ammunitions.

"I thought it was happening only with my state. Now the defence forces are also saying this. This is a matter of serious concern for the country. We are not getting sufficient quantity of arms and ammunition for practice of our police personnel even when states are ready to pay for the budget," he said.

"I have urged prime minister to make a policy and prepare a scheme for clearing backlog of arms and ammunitions. If need be, import arms and ammunition," he said.
