Shailesh Gandhi is an Information Commissioner with the Central Information Commission (CIC).

The first generation entrepreneur, who sold his business to work as a social activist, says the Right to Information (RTI) Act has the potential to make the system transparent and accountable. According to him, it would be difficult to implement the transparency law in letter and spirit with lacunas in the government’s delivery system.

Gandhi says that spreading awareness about the RTI Act was necessary for its proper implementation. He worked for effective implementation of the Act to improve governance and joined CIC in October 2007.
