First digital signature offering portal for ITR filing launched

Year-on-year growth in electronic filing of returns is 100 per cent

SNK ETax Solutions on Wednesday launched 'Taxsum.com', a portal offering browser-based digital signature for online filing of returns and computation of tax, for all categories of assesses.

"Our portal can compute tax for all categories of assesses who file returns on ITR-1 to ITR-6. It's the first portal in India to offer browser based digital signature and enables filing of ITR-1 for the salaried classes through mobile phones," SNK ETax Chairman, Sanjay N Kapadiaa said.

There are an estimated over 10 crore PAN card holders in the country, of which around four crore file tax returns.

Out of these four crore, around one crore file returns online, Kapadiaa said.

The online tax filing rose to 91.57 lakhs in FY:10-11 from 51.06 lakhs in 2009-10.

"The year-on-year growth in electronic filing of returns is 100 per cent. We estimate the number of returns to be filed in 2011-12 will touch five crore, of which online return filing could be to the order of two crore," he said.

The bi-lingual portal offers a slew of facilities which earlier were not available on other such portals, he said.(More) PTI VKB PD KRK SHT

The company, an authorised electronic return filing intermediary of Government of India (GoI), offers Swift Opinion Services (SOS), a pay and use online consultancy service for tax computation and filing related queries.

"We have also hosted the facility for obtaining tax audit reports on the portal, a feature required by the companies or any assesses having business turnover of Rs 60 lakh and above," he said.

The company, a registered authority of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for sale of digital signature, has developed a technology so that it can be stored and saved on the portal.

"Whenever someone wants to use his digital signature he can download it, use it and restore it back on the portal," Kapadiaa said.
