Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Globalcom (RGCom) said on Wednesday that it has upgraded the broadband capacity of its undersea cable networks, which connect all the major regions of the world, to over 500 GB/second.

An arm of Reliance Communications, RGCom has commercially launched the upgraded capacity on two cable routes -- Flag Europe Asia (FEA) and FALCON Cable Systems -- to over 500 GB, up four-fold, that will usher in a "bandwidth revolution", the company said in a statement.

The FEA route connects Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East. It covers the UK, Middle East, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China on the eastward side.

Westwards, FALCON has connectivity with North Americas, the company said, adding that the two cable systems are the fastest growing bandwidth routes in the world.

The two connect 23 countries and put RGcom in a position to offer high quality international internet connectivity, the company said.

"With over 500 GB of capacity to connect the Middle East with Europe and Asia using the highly advanced platforms, we are in a position to cater to all existing and future bandwidth requirements and technological implementations of our carrier and ISP customers," Reliance Globalcom COO Rory Cole said.

RGCom's activities span across the globe through owned and hybrid networks, offering wholesale bandwidth, managed services and cloud computing services.
