Every district to have an IT hub with incubation centres by 2014

The West Bengal government will roll out e-district project early next year, state Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee said on Monday.

"Following the rolling of the e-district project all government services will be made available online," he said at a Ficci programme in Kolkata.

Claiming that West Bengal was one of the best states in e-governance, he said the Trinamool Congress government has introduced online file tracking systems in all of its department.

Referring to IT, he said that by 2014 every district of the state would have an IT hub with incubation centres.

"We want to take IT beyond Salt Lake and Rajarhat" (in Kolkata), Chatterjee said.

Ficci and Project Management Institute had conducted a study on a e-district pilot project for Bankura district.
