33 on fast for filling up all primary teacher vacancies in

Altogether 33 primary teachers' training students were on a fast in Howrah district for the past three days to demand filling up the vacancies of assistant teachers' posts.

One of the students, fasting before the howrah district primary school teaching council office here, fell sick today taking the number of agitators having fallen sick to five, official sources said.

West Bengal minister Arup Roy today met the students on hunger strike and assured them to bring the matter to the notice of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Union General Secretary Pintu Padui alleged recruitment of primary teachers have been completed in every district of Bengal with the exception of Howrah.
