Over 40 protesters were detained here when they demonstrated over the police action against social activist Anna Hazare in Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

"Hazare's supporters had gathered at the Buddha lake area and marched towards the collector's office. As demonstrating outside the collector's office is not allowed, 44 people were detained and then later released," additional SP, Raipur, Lal Umed Singh told PTI.

The protesters raised slogans supporting Hazare's anti-corruption campaign and condemning the government for "anti-democratic" measures.

Similar demonstrations were witnessed in Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Rajnandgaon, Durg and Bhilai cities.
