Madras HC lawyers tie black flags to flagstaffs demanding Tamil being instituted as the official language

Lawyers agitating for implementation of Tamil as the official High Court language today tied black flags at a post where the tricolour has been hoisted on the court premises and also on the walking stick of Mahatma Gandhi's statue.

However, they removed the flags on a request by the court registrar, officials said.

Meanwhile, a small group of lawyers decided to go on a fast until their demand was met.

Meanwhile film director Seeman, a well known Tamil activist and one of the open supporters for a separate Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka, met the lawyers and spoke to them for a few minutes.
