Daily wagers strike work demanding regularisation
Seek chief minister Omar Abdullah's intervention
PTI | Jammu | December 14 2011
Hundreds of daily wage workers of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (PDD) today struck work protesting the government's failure to regularise their services and asked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matter.
Over 300 PDD daily wagers and casual labourers struck work and held a demonstration outside the Chief Engineer's office at Canal Road here.
They demanded regularisation of daily wagers and casual labourers of the PDD who were working in the department for the last 5-10 years.
Asking the Chief Minister to intervene into the issue, they said, "He had promised to regularise the daily wagers in phased manners in 2009 but nothing was done after that."
