Protesters start march from Vasai to Vidhan bhavan

35 villages are demanding to be excluded from the Vasai-Virar municipal corporation

Hundreds of people from Vasai in the district have set out for Vidhan Bhavan, in South Mumbai, to press their demand that 35 villages in the area be excluded from Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation.

Local MLA, Vivek Pandit, is leading the march. It also includes some floats, showcasing local culture.

People have also taken their cattle along.

The march started last evening, and will reach the Sanjay Gandhi National Park today, from where they would set out for Vidhan Bhavan, where budget session is going on, tomorrow.

Protesters are demanding that a notification excluding the villages from Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation be issued forthwith.

The corporation was formed three years ago.
