MRPS held protests at many spots in Hyderabad

Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) spearheading an agitation in favour of categorisation of scheduled castes, on Sunday demanded an all party delegation to New Delhi to pressurise the union government to pass the bill.

Manda Krishna Madiga, president of MRPS who resorted to hunger strike in favour of the bill urged the chief minister to lead an all party delegation to New Delhi and said he will continue his agitation till the demand is met.

The BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu, addressing media persons also demanded the chief minister to lead a delegation in this regard.

Protest by MRPS activists were held at different places in Hyderabad in support of their demand.

Meanwhile, the state government in a release said that it is committed for the categorisation of scheduled castes.

Andhra Pradesh legislature has unanimously passed a resolution on this subject and the state government has sent an all party delegation to New Delhi to impress upon this matter. Former chief ministers late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Konijeti Rosaiah have also written to government of India requesting for early action on this issue.

Now once again government is ready to send an all-party delegation to New Delhi to pursue this important matter concerning the categorisation of scheduled castes, the release added.
