Strike affects normal life in Manipur
24-hour strike call given by central trade unions

The 24-hour nationwide strike, called by central trade unions against price rise and other issues, affected normal life in Manipur today with markets, shops and business establishments remaining closed and private transport off the roads.
Strike supporters forcibly closed down some shops which opened in the morning in the Imphal market complex.
Markets, shops and business establishments remained closed and private transport was off the roads.
Security and police personnel were deployed at various parts of the state capital to prevent any untoward incident.
Officials said attendence in government offices was thin as most employees could not arrive because of lack of transport.
