An apex Naga students body has reiterated its demand for total review of the existing government policy on job reservation for the backward tribes of the state since 2007.

Naga Students Federation (NSF) reminded the government about its earlier memorandum submitted to chief minister Neiphiu Rio on November 18, 2010 with regard to the present job reservation policy.

The NSF president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu and its general secretary Wati Jamir, in a joint statement, today said that though various commissions and committees on job reservation were constituted by the state government to address the issue, the reports of such panels were "yet to be accountable to the public."

The students body asserted that with the change of time and progress of the people, the existing policy needed to be reviewed and the issue be addressed without further ambiguity.

They pointed out that pending resolution of such an important issue not only attracted litigations from some sections of the people who felt discriminated but also the entire process of recruitment in the government set-up was put on hold.

Stating that due to indifferent attitude of the state government the career of the educated unemployed youth could no longer be put at stake, especially for those youths who are on the verge of overage, the NSF urged the government to review the existing reservation policy without further delay.
