Bhanwari case: Bishnois allege Cong-CBI conspiracy

Massive protest rally by Bishnoi community members

Scores of people from the Bishnoi community on Monday took out a massive rally  in protest against the alleged harassment of a Rajasthan Congress legislator's octogenarian mother by the CBI in connection with the Bhanwari Devi case.

Amari Devi is the 80-year-old mother of legislator Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, who has been arrested by the CBI in the case.

Terming the arrest of Bishnoi and the purported questioning of his family a conspiracy, MP from Hisar Kuldeep Bishnoi alleged that the ruling Congress was attempting to malign the image of the Bishnoi community in connivance with the CBI.

"The CBI has always been a private agency of Congress party. It is a custom in the Congress to use the CBI to meet its ulterior political motives," Kudleep said, addressing a huge gathering here.

The Bishnoi community members, who protested under the banner of Kissan Kesri Sangharsh Samiti, also accused the CBI of being "partial" in its investigation into the case and demanded the probe be handed over to some other agency.

Kuldeep said the samiti would be giving a memorandum to the President and the Prime Minister in order to draw their attention to the issue.

"If we do not get justice even there, then we will intensify our movement and will hit the roads of the state and national capitals," he said.

Meanwhile, the CBI Camp Office here was brought under security cordon after some speakers at the rally called upon the gathering to attack the CBI team and drive them out of town.

"We deployed a Special Task Force and police officers in the wake of this meeting to thwart any mischief," said ADCP Jyoti Swaroop Sharma.
