‘Decode with Sudhir Chaudhary’ adds to DD News viewership

DD News official YouTube channel gains 453,000 subscribers

The national public broadcaster DD News has announced a significant increase in its viewership metrics following the launch of its flagship news programme, ‘Decode with Sudhir Chaudhary’, anchored by veteran journalist Sudhir Chaudhary.

In a statement, Doordarshan said the programme’s incisive analysis and compelling discussions immediately captivated audiences leading to unprecedented and substantial surge in TRPs (television rating points) from its inaugural week. Its breakthrough story-telling has driven historic growth in viewership elevating DD News’ 9-10 PM weekday slot to unprecedented prominence.

Since its first broadcast on May 15, ‘Decode with Sudhir Chaudhary’ has reshaped news consumption patterns on DD News. 

The first episode of ‘Decode’ has garnered 2.6 million views till date on the DD News’ official YouTube channel, setting a record-breaking benchmark for DD News in the news category on YouTube. The show achieved total of 23.9 million views making it a dominant 48.58% of DD News’ YouTube Channel’s overall 49.2 million views for the month. 

Additionally, ‘Decode’ has generated 148 million impressions, accounting for a substantial 67.89% of the channels’ total 218 million impressions in the month of May. The channel also experienced a significant net gain of 453,000 subscribers during the same reporting period. 

“This comprehensive data unequivocally demonstrates that ‘Decode with Sudhir Chaudhary’ was instrumental in driving the majority of views, impression and audience engagement across the digital platform throughout May 2025. The programme has established itself as the cornerstone of DD News’ primetime schedule attracting a broad and highly engaged audience. It provides viewers with comprehensive and unbiased perspective on a diverse array of national and international issues,” said the statement from DD News.

“DD News remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to public service broadcasting, delivering credible news and varied programming to the nation,” it added.
