Is corruption not an election issue?

GN Bureau | May 13, 2011

The results of five assembly elections are out. Corruption, which along with misgovernance has been the most talked about issue at the national level for the past year or so, has not found resonance with the voters, except in Tamil Nadu (where it did, very strongly). The Congress, heading the UPA government that is facing criticism over graft charges, has remained victorious in Assam and  Kerala (going by the leads) and its alliance partner Trinamool has registered a historic win in West Bengal.

So, is corruption not an election issue at the state level? Or, is it that it remains very much a matter of concern at the national level, but in states there were other issues at stake?
