Do you think minority quota as proposed by Cong amounts to religion-based quota?

GN Bureau | January 15 2012

Share

The election commission has asked the centre to put on hold sub-quota for Muslims till the elections are over in the five states.

Union law minister Salman Khurshid had announced on Monday that the Congress would provide 9% sub-quota to backward Muslims in UP government jobs if voted to power in the state. Earlier last month, the UPA had decided to provide 4.5 percent reservation to minorities in central government jobs and educational institutions within the 27 percent quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Do you think the Congress-proposed quota amounts to quota based on religion?

Minority means muslims in pravelent politico-social lingo.Hence to beleive it otherwise only amounts to self deception on our part. This is least to suggest that i'm opposed to welfare & active invilvement of muslims in larger Inidan context.Sooner we stop appreassing fundametalists on either side better we shall be as a nation.Amen ! dr sharma
