BEL to track traffic in Hyderabad

Government public sector unit Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), post the successful bid of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) traffic project, would now handle close to 220 traffic signals in the state, which will involve the installation and modernization of the signals within the GHMC limits.

Under the project, which is likely to cost BEL Rs 63.6 crore, all the traffic signals will be linked to a traffic commanding centre, which will be set up at the traffic control room in Hyderabad, as reported by the Times of India.

The company is likely to execute the project within a period of five years on the design, build, operate and transfer (DBOT) model and is likely to be complete in next 12 months.

The three bids that were shortlisted included those of BEL, CMS and KELTRON.
