Candidate data not compromised with: Prometric on CAT website

Infected website only about providing information

PTI | September 2, 2010

Amid reports that IIM's CAT website has been hacked and got infected with virus, prometric, which is assigned to conduct the exams, today said that the problem has been rectified and allayed apprehension about candidate information being tampered with.

It said at no time did the issue impede the ability of candidates to register for the CAT, nor has any candidate's application or appointment date has been compromised with.

The affected site provides information about the CAT to candidates and does not store or contain any candidate information, prometric said.

"A malware (virus) was discovered and removed overnight," prometric said in a statement but added it will take several hours for the warnings to disappear from Google Chrome.

It advised the candidates to use the approved browsers like internet explorer version 7, Firefox version 3.0.

It also said if access to the CAT website, catiim.in, is not available, alternative site https://iim.prometric.com/ can be used for application of candidates.

Prometric further said information about candidates is protected with "enterprise class security technology".

"It is confirmed to be safe from harm, is completely segregated from the catiim.in website and has undergone rigorous security and vulnerability testing," prometric said.
