Canon eyeing opportunities in UID project, e-governance
Company completed trials with SI for UID

Leading Japanese firm, Canon today said it hopes to have a pie in Adhaar, India's unique identification project.
"Digital cameras and printers are two products which have great opportunities," Canon India Senior VP Alok Bharadwaj told reporters here today.
Canon sees a potential of supply of over 80,000 digital SLR cameras for the project in the first two years after its launch.
"Canon has recently completed trials using a systems integrator for UID's database collection -- part of the project," he said.
The company said it sees huge potential in segments like healthcare, education and e-governance.
