A computerised driving test track for issuing driving licences, the first of its kind in Karnataka, would be launched on July 16, Transport Minister T R Ashok said here today.

The fully automated driving test track has been set up at a cost of Rs 1.70 crore at Marthahalli and is aimed at reducing road accidents by ensuring that the licence was only issued to those who had the competent driving skills.

The computerisation also eliminated the influence of middlemen in issuing of licence, he said.

On bus services, he said Volvo buses plying between the city and the international airport would now have a TV set with internet facility attached to the seats.

There were also plans to launch bus service with 40 buses for railway passengers from three railway stations to different parts of the city, apart from three buses for short distances free of cost from next week, he said.
