Contest for development of new mobile apps

Winner to receive Rs 1 lakh as cash prize

The government is taking mobile governance seriously. In addition of putting up a draft of the RFP on scaling the mobile services delivery gateway (MSDG) to get suggestions from various stakeholders for a precise tender contract, it has also started a contest on development of the best mobile application on public or government services with a cash money prize of Rs 1 lakh. 
The contest, being organised by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) will run through March 1 to March 31 and apart from the first prize winner who will get Rs 1 lakh, a second and third prize winner will also be announced who will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 each as prize money. One can log on to mgov.gov.in to get all the details of the contest. 
 
A candidate will have to first register on http://appscontest.mgov.gov.in/mainpage.jsp and then submit his or her mobile app under the following categories Government Services, Education/Reference, Social Networking, Lifestyle/Travel, e-Health and Productivity/Tools on the website. 
 
Only Indian nationals are allowed to participate in the contest and the candidate will have to submit only original apps developed by him or her on the website. A person can only register once and can submit only one app for the contest. 
 
Candidates have been warned to take precautions against misuse of the site, use of the contest to upload malware or virus on the site and also against violating the norms of their employers against participating in any contest against the policies of the employer.
