A secured communication network, having a dedicated frequency, has been set up by the city government to ensure proper coordination among all the agencies involved in hosting of the Commonwealth Games.

The wireless communication network called 'Tetra' has been developed on the lines of the dedicated system which was used at the Beijing Olympics.

"It has been established by the city Government to ensure seamless and secured networking among all the agencies connected with organisation of the Commonwealth Games," said a senior official.

A total of 10,000 mobile handsets will be used by different agencies under the secured network to ensure real-time coordination among various agencies. The communication network was conceived almost a year ago.

A handset was yesterday presented to Lt Governor Tejindra Khanna.
