Delhi Assembly will telecast the proceedings of the house live through its official website following the directions of Central Information Commission (CIC).
If the decision to telecast the proceedings live is taken forward finally, it will make Delhi the first state in India which streams the proceedings of the house live on the website. The Assembly Secretariat has written to National Informatics’ Centre (NIC) to provide the necessary infrastructure to stream the proceedings live.
“The steps are being taken following the order of the CIC which has directed to develop a hyperlink on official website of Delhi Assembly in order to provide live telecast of the proceedings,” said Shastri to the Pioneer.
Delhi Assembly’s Deputy Secretary (Administration) Lal Muni in a letter to Sanjay Kapoor, SIO, NIC, has sought help regarding infrastructural facilities, information technology equipment/software/hardware and trained and specialised manpower for the live telecast. “It has been requested that a feasibility study may kindly be undertaken at the earliest. Further, you are requested to guide this secretariat and provide details about the implementation of the decision of CIC,” the letter said.
Delhi Assembly secretary PN Mishra said that CIC order has categorically stated two things. “First to put all proceedings of the House -- including sub-ordinate legislations introduced and passed by the Assembly on the website. The second thing was that to start live telecast of the proceedings as it is done in the case of several news channels which provide live telecast of events,” said Mishra.
Mishra told that the live telecast will only start in the next six months.
