Sachin Pilot, minister of state for communications and information technology said that government has taken steps to spread information technology education in the border states. 

The national institute of electronics and information technology, an autonomous body under Department of Information Technology (DIT), has opened centres to provide IT learning in border which include Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Sikkim.

Informing Rajya Sabha on Friday, Pilot said government departments including DIT, tribal affairs, labour and employment have initiated various schemes and projects to encourage tribal youth students to learn IT.

Moreover, the minister informed that under the national e-governance programme (NeGP), nine common service centres (CSCs) have been set up in Leh (Jammu and Kashmir) and six in Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh).
