E-bill to give fillip to public services in TN
With a slew of public services accessible online, the implementation of the Electronic Delivery of Services Bill is likely to simplify public works in quarters of Tamil Nadu. The health department of the state takes pride to be a pioneer in its e-governance initiatives, reported the Times of India.
The state has worked carefully on a patients' database that allows one to access information from any government hospital or health care centre. Former state IT secretary Santosh Babu told TOI that the state has already implemented major objectives of the new bill.
Babu further said that selected data or documents are to be published within "180 days in public domain and those failing to do so will face penalties up to 20,000."
The commercial tax department, the employment directorate and the agriculture department are among the best examples of e-governance services in the Tamil Nadu.
