Govt launched eFMS in K’taka

The fund management system will help in transfer of funds from the government to its direct beneficiaries

To eliminate the pilferage of funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the Union government on Wednesday launched the electronic fund management system (eFMS) as part of a pilot project in Karnataka.

The system is used for easy transfer of funds from the government to the direct beneficiaries is developed by National Informatics Centre and the State?Bank of Mysore.

A report by Deccan Herald newspaper quotes minister for rural development and panchayat raj, Jagadish Shettar saying the system would initially be introduced in seven districts and then extended to all the districts by the end of October.

“The measure will usher in transparency. We have also introduced video recording of works, third party inspections and ombudsmen to monitor the projects,” he said.
