The government will offer electronic delivery of services under 275 service categories spanning across central, state and local government levels, under the various mission mode projects (MMPs) of the national e-governance plan (NeGP).

Informing the Rajya Sabha on the same, Sachin Pilot, minister of state for communications and information technology on Friday said that NeGP presently comprises of 31 MMPs and eight support components. “These projects have been categorized into central, integrated and state MMPs and are being implemented by the respective central line ministries, departments and the state governments,” Pilot said, in reply to a question, in the Upper House.

He apprised the House that the benefits likely to be accrued from NeGP includes, improved service and service levels, availability of services at the doorstep of the common man and greater transparency, efficiency and accountability in the delivery of services.

Pilot said that NeGP was approved by the government of India in May 2006 with the vision to “make all government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets and ensure efficiency, transparency and reliability of such services at affordable costs to realize the basic needs of the common man.”
