GPS to track garbage lorries, water tankers in Salem

Salem municipal corporation uses technology for precise monitoring of work

Global positioning systems (GPS) will be installed in garbage lorries and water tankers of the Salem municipal corporation, a top official said in Salem on Saturday.

Corporation commisioner M Asokan said the GPS would be put in place in all 60 wards. The system would enable precise monitoring of works, he said, adding a biometric system would also be introduced for recording attendance of sanitary supervisors and other workers.
