With India emerging as a major global R&D hub for the power sector, the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) expects around 4,000 delegates from across the globe to attend Elecrama event to be held in January 2012.

"Already India is emerging as a major R&D hub and there has been a global reputation of our electrical equipment for sourcing of base products and components. We expect around 4,000 foreign delegates to attend the event," IEEMA chairman, Export Division, Sanjeev Sardana said in a statement issued here.

Indian electrical equipment industry has been exporting almost 15-20 per cent of its product portfolio and our annual exports are around USD 4.5 billion currently, he said.

The delegates would include procurement officials from power utility companies, power equipment/technology marketing companies and consultants looking to source from India, Sardana said.

"As India is fast becoming a major global R&D hub for the power sector, offering of right technology at right price and free market access for exchange of global trade has made India the most favoured destination," High Commissioner of Kenya in India Festus Kaberia said.

Being an established exporter of electrical equipment globally, India is playing a key role in establishing power projects ? generation, transmission and distribution in Kenya, he said.
